Quality Over Quantity
Now I've been playing this SEO game for what seems to be forever, but is actually a blink of an eye when compared with my contemporaries who've were in the biz in the 1990's. To have seen the changes that these survivors have seen and adapted to them all is a strong indication that Darwin may have had it right when he said adapt or go extinct (he used more words, but I think that captures the spirit).
My praise for these folks are a result of seeing in my relatively short time the number and frequency of adaptions required. This is not a business where you can take a week off from industry reading.
I've been recently struggling with the notion that a long term strategy which I've invested much effort in needs to change. The strategy is to get as many possible inbound links to target sites, regardless of quality or even relevancy.
I have to acknowledge that quality indeed seems to be more important of late than quantity. An eye opening article on this topic, that should be a must read for all SEO's is here: http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum12/3047.htm.
I hate to abandon the old comfortable ways, but if I don't keep up with the times, I'll go the way of the dodo. So good-bye link farms. I'm dusting off my white hat to see if it still fits.
