Keyword? Or Not To Keyword? That is the Question
An ongoing test is whether or not to implement keywords for minimum SEO to a site or to wait till an SEO specialist can work their magic. In my opinion the best course of action is to implement keywords to your sites that way they can gain some traffic till the SEO expert can do it right.
Another debate is do you have hundreds of sites with some keywords or ten sites with complete SEO. Again the jury is still out on this matter. From months of research and testing there is not an exact science on SEO but I do know that having keywords and a linking strategy has value.
From a previous post we talked about the two types of SEO; Black Hat and White Hat. When doing the minimum SEO to a site don't go crazy with keywords. This needs to be tactful and planned out prior to implementation. If you don't know where to look for keywords and their value a good source is Overture's Keyword Selector Tool. Depending upon your topic type in numerous keyword combinations and see their value. A good choice is something that isn't widely searched because you will be competing with many people. The best choice is something specific. For example "DEBT" is very generic, but "Orlando Debt" is unique and will help you out. Visit the site and look at the keywords values.
Overall trial and error is a part of the process and again this isn't an exact science regardless of what people say. SEO experts exist because they are valuable in keyword selection and linking strategy. Online tools exist to help those without the expertise. Both have value and both should be utilized.
